Construction has begun at Amberley Museum, where Pritchard Architecture is leading the transformation of the museum’s entrance.

This comprehensive project involves the removal of modern alterations to restore the railway siding to its historic configuration. In addition to meticulous conservation efforts, the project includes the installation of a glazed screen entrance, new walkways, and thermal upgrades to existing structures.

The Bagging Shed and Railway Siding hold significant historical importance as a scheduled monument and has been identified as a building at risk by Historic England. The structures serve as integral components of the original chalk and limeworks site, boasting a compelling narrative that encompasses the original railway line route and the remnants of the Victorian lime kiln.

As the works progress, we look forward to unveiling the project which respects the sites rich heritage while embracing modern design principles and sustainability measures.
